DON’T JUST DROP IT

DON’T  JUST  DROP  IT

Our  biggest  problems  in life, most  times, arise  from  those  things  we  JUST do, because  we  don’t  see  them  as  a  POTENTIAL  CAUSE  OF  HARM  OR HARM  IN  ITSELF,  they’re  simply  just  ordinary, after  all, EVERYONE’S  DOING  IT!.

But  STOP for  a moment  and ask  yourself, SHOULD I KEEP FOLLOWING THE BAND WAGON?  THE  FACT  THAT  EVERYBODY  IS DOING  IT, DOES  IT MAKE  IT THE  RIGHT  THING  TO DO? The  usual  truthful  answer  is  NO!

YOU ARE YOU AND I AM ME, but  we  owe  each  other  some  decency, that’s  why  we  are  co-existing  (living  together)!.
Ask  yourself: IN WHAT WAY HAVE I DISCIPLINED MYSELF TOWARDS MAKING MY ENVIRONMENT DECENT ENOUGH FOR THE NEXT PERSON? .

It  seems  that  every  invention  in Nigeria, makes  our environment  dirtier, from  pure  water  sachets  to  telecomm (MTN, Etisalat, Glo, Airtel, Starcomms, Visafone  etc)  credit  papers,  to crude  oil  exploration; but  let  us  look  at  where  the average  man is  involved!.

I  took  a  decision,  some  years  back,  not  to  DROP anything  on the  floor, it  either  goes  straight  into any  available  dirt  bin,  or it stays  with  me  till  I  can find  one, I’m  still  actively  practicing  it, I keep  a  special  place  in my    bag  for  empty  gala/biscuit packets, pure  water  sachets  etc, credit  papers  are for  the back  pocket  of my trousers.

REMEMBER THAT WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND IS NOT DIRT UNTILL YOU DROP IT ON THE FLOOR!  We  often  feel  that  whatever  we can  use off,  automatically  becomes  dirt  but that’s  not  true; it only  becomes  dirt  when  you  drop  it  on  the  floor.
Most times, meals  are more  appetizing  in  their  adverts, so much  so  that  you  wish  you had  the  advert  picture  for  a  meal, e.g. Indomie noodles. That’s  because  if  it  was  laid bare  without  the pieces  of carrots  and  green  peas,  and  the chicken,  it would  look like  WHITE WORMS! And  you  wouldn’t  buy  it, let  alone, eat  it!  What  does this  tell  us?

THE HUMAN  MIND  WILL  ALWAYS  APPRECIATE  WHAT  LOOKS  GOOD!
Our  vision of  “abroad/overseas”  is  usually  some  clean environment, with  clean  water  and clean  air, that we  would like  to be in, and  that’s  where our vision  stops!  What  we  don’t  remember  is that  a  spirit  didn’t  come  down  to clean  the place  up,  it simply  took  some level  of discipline  over-time  by  the immediate members  of that  environment  not  to litter  their  environment.

PERSISTENCE  PAYS  and  CONSISTENCY WILL ALWAYS  YIELD  RESULTS,   the issue  is: IN  WHAT  DIRECTION  AM I  PERSISTING AND  BEING  CONSISTENT  IN? The  truthful answer  is : Most  times, in the  wrong  direction!

Imagine  an  open  field  of green  grass, neatly  kept, always  appealing to the  eyes! Imagine  that  you  drop  a  piece  of paper on it, and imagine  also that  others also  drop  their own  pieces,  from pure  water  sachets  to sweet  to gala  and biscuit  packets, then there’s  rainfall  and it’s  all  smeared  over with  dust  and sand.  If you  are  good  with  imaginations, what  you’ll  arrive  at, will make  the initially  beautiful  green  grass  field, now  irritating  and ugly!  You  wouldn’t  even  want  to look  at  it, let  alone  be  in  it!.
WHAT  THEN IS  TO BE  DONE? Make  a  decision  today  about  that  expendable, used-off  thing  in your  hand, that  piece  of paper,  credit  paper,  pure  water  sachet, biscuit, candy(sweets)  and Chewing  gum  packet.

DON’T  JUST  DROP IT, DROP  IT IN A DIRT  BIN, DROP IT  RIGHT!
